Firmware or Protocol Engine (PE) updates can be performed by the user by using an example program provided by Alta or by using the AltaView Analyzer under Microsoft Windows.
Prior to performing an update, you must obtain the latest firmware bit file (*.bit) from the Downloads section of the Alta web site https://www.altadt.com/customers/fpga-protocol-engine-pe/
Each product is listed under the Firmware section with a corresponding Change File that can be reviewed prior to downloading the firmware.
Once the firmware file is retrieved and stored on the local computer, the update can proceed.
For the API method of updating the firmware, compile, build and run the example program ADT_L1_1553_ex_progflash.c to update the firmware. NOTE: Be sure to define the correct DEVID for the device to be programmed. The example program can be found in [….]examples\M1553 Examples\.
