Home / Article / I cannot access a secondary channel on my multi-channel card from another application when running a separate application on a different channel.

We have done some experimenting with a Dell E5420 system with which a customer was having this kind of problem.  It appears the problem is related to multiple cores and hyperthreading.

To correct this issue, the BIOS settings on the computer were modified.  Under “Performance” and “Multi Core Support”, set this to “1” so it uses only one core.  Also under “Performance”, and “HyperThread Control”set this to “Disabled” (and hit the Apply button).  “Save and Exit” and reboot.

This appears to fix the problem with memory test failures when running independent applications on the two channels of the ECD54-1553 card.
